With this in mind I can say the end of the story should be going well. Strangely enough Wishmerhill had just been killed at the end of the previous book, and he is resurected right at the start, what a surprise ! It seems they have found a convenient way to develop Donjon without actually drawing it :) We witness here the first appearance of Marvin, although we dont it right from the start - but a red dragon character is not that common even in a fantasy world. We dont know much about where he comes from, when he en ...more october 21st 2003     The ending of the `trilogy` After some no-longer-than-usual delay, the third and final part of the 'trilogy' is at last in my hands. This time the album is centered around Herbert experiencing the destruction of the planet. This being a 'Monsters' album, it is drawn by a third party artist, Blanquet. So what's to say here ? The graphic style is not so easy to swallow, but the story is fantastic. It is nothing short of the coming of age of the major character of the early Donjon, Hyacinthe. You can make this up by the title itself, but the details of the album are really well polished. Just as before, Donjon moves on, with an unknown (to me) artist with quite a talent. His drawings seem to be made by chalk, and the result is very interesting. The characters we know have aged a bit, and they seem to be mistreated by the artist, but then again the story is placed 40 years after the... well after the beginning. Wel ...more april 27th 2003         Still more complex for Arq Reading this 'Dorro Zengu', I thought back to the very old and first albums by Andreas, full of impossible camera angles, characters with hard edges, and unbelievable but gripping stories. The style is much softer now, much more classical, more commercial indeed. We could speak of experience, i'd rather say marketing. But it doesnt kill the interest. No marketing campaign, no big drums, no ad anywhere. But the quality is still here, as with all of them before. Stone-B is back, as with Esra, but only briefly. The story is nice, on the average of the serie, which is quite high. But strangely it doesnt seem to end at the last page. Its just as if there will be a second part - ...more april 27th 2003         The donjon brings about a revelation I had just been saddened by a late and somewhat disappointing release of the Andreas album, one of my favourite artists. But being a loyal fan, I didnt hesitate when I spotted this album in stores. I even think I acted more by reflex than by thinking, I have to monitor that...
