The cristal-eyed Ogre,p.19
"If I understand well, the more money you have, the more you gain...
About right.
So, some have more than they need, while others barely survive !
So ?
That's unfair !"

Garulfo

Garulfo is a bliss ! If you like graphic novels at any rate, just dont read this and go buy it !

The starting concept is simple : a prince turned into a frog, but the other way round. Garulfo is a nice and philosophical frog, set to turn himself into a human, and discover the fabulous world of progress and domination over nature. He goes as far as taking oath to a witch, to reach his goal. Then he needs only a kiss from a princess, to be turned into a beautiful prince, a king among men.

The comic of naive and honest Garulfo being put face to face with all realism of (middle-age) humanity is enough to fill the books. But the authors go even further, by inserting a new hero (well...), the prince himself, the one that changes body with the frog ! And him going down from top of the food chain to last link. The two of them collide, of course, and being complete opposite, its another source of delirious humour. There is even more to it, story-wise.

The drawings are also impressive. I loved the clear use of different pen sizes, to draw front details of backgrounds. It gives a real polish to an otherwise extremely precise sketching. The style is totally mature and mastered. A nice touch also, all first pages of all books open with a unique view being divided into cells.

Very important finally, the story is finished, which means there is no more waiting for a last and very late album, or a change in artist... All in all, this is one of the best serie I have.
