Lower Manhattan

I had a lot of shots of the lower part of the island, filled up with landmarks, famous and impressive buildings. So I divided the serie in four parts. This one is about the political side of lower manhattan.

Here's the Woolworth building, world tallest (one more) in 1913, on Broadway. At the time, the cost was 15 million$, and the cost was reputedly paid with nickels and dimes (the US smallest coins).

The City Hall Park just in front of the City Hall (duh).

The City Hall itself.

South is the Equitable Building - this is only *half* of it. It was the very first massive office building and has set a trend continuing ever since.

Here is the (bottom of the) US Courthouse (on the right), and the small NY County Courthouse, home of the state supreme court.

The municipal building.

Near the very end of Broadway sits the Trinity Church, facing directly the Wall street, which you may have heard of. On the right is the Bank of NY.

Quite a few NY streets are in a bad state such as this one, with a lot of building being refurbished or altogether built from scratch.

This thing was sitting close to the County Courthouse...
