Double trouble in Kiev

I spent one month in Kiev, two journeys of two weeks, to work on a project. Hopefully I was there with two colleagues, with digital cameras. They took 682 pictures, here is a selection !
Kiev the good
The nice parts of Kiev
The ministry building
The mandarin plaza, one of the most luxurious department store in town.
Entrance to the lavra, the city monastery.

The metro is as impressive as in all eastern europe.
And as deep in the ground as the other countries !
Kiev the bad
We came across about a dozen wedding parties over the weekend !
And a lot, a real lot of girls...
String is the new religion here.
Kiev the ugly
This is the building where our apartment was located, on the 17th floor. Seems nice here, but the building itself was from another age.
Most cars are ladas.
but most do not look that destroyed.
A lot of buildings are derelict
Kiev life
Election year, streets closed to trafic...
A third of the city is being reconstructed, even at night...
and sadly, just outside our windows.
